Earth is our home today. It is home to an intelligent race of species. Civilizations have been formed on this planet. It also has cool life forms and untamed biomes. Some islands are forming. Land chunks are moving throughout the sphere. Land keeps on changing and natural disasters sometimes happen. It revolves around its star and has one moon. How did this begin? How will it end? Is it already ending?
15 bya ( billion years ago) the Big Bang happened. It created our universe out of nothingness and time. That was when time began. But it also created something important. Matter. The first atom was created seconds after the explosion. And one of them was hydrogen. For 500 million years the Universe was dark. There was no such thing as light. Then the first star was born. After mixing some gases it created light. Now the Universe slowly lit up. Stars powerhouses are in their Core. And that is made out of hydrogen. Eventually a star would run out of hydrogen, expand so big and suck all its planets in, become super super black and lose its light, and either explode or turn into a black hole. The exploding part happened in 4 bya.
A star in the Milky Way Galaxy ran out of hydrogen and BOOM! Dust and debris went flying everywhere! Some of the dust collected and joined together by hydrogen and got bigger and bigger. Soon in the middle was a ball of fire. This is called a solar nebula. When it got really big, fire and light came out. That was our sun. Other dust collected to form planets including earth. The solar system just began in 4.5 bya. At that time our current blue planet was just a ball of fire with lava flowing on its surface. There was no hard land. After some cooling, the crust formed. It was just a piece of extra soft piece of land. But in no time it became hard. Now different layers formed like mantle, outer core, inner core, and crust. There was no water at this time, oceans were lava. Earth was a super volcanic planet. After a while the whole planet got assembled into giant plates. Over millions of years, the land shape and surface would change because of that. Earth only enjoyed a silence of 30 million years. After, a dwarf planet called Theia collided into earth and caused a mass destruction of the planet. A giant hole was blown into Earth. Collision was 100X bigger than which caused the dinosaurs. The planet got destroyed but ¼ of the planet broke off. That became the moon. The moon cooled much quicker and was no match to Earth’s gravity so it revolved around Earth. That day it was much closer to our home than ever. Now the first continent on Earth formed. It was a supercontinent. The oldest rocks formed on it. Soon earth’s tremendous heat released gases in the sky. Volcanic eruptions also threw out so much carbon and other gases. There were too many atoms to float into space. So they collected together and formed the atmosphere. Lots of gases but no oxygen. it is unknown how water got to earth but it did. Maybe an icy comet crashed and melted. But there were oceans on Earth 3.8 bya. Volcanic activity was less now. The same time period the first life came! And it was from outer space!
3.8 bya, a comet crashes the barren planet of Earth. It caused devastation to land but introduced life. Some other planets have one-celled organisms. Modern scientists have found them on Mars. Some single celled organisms can survive in space. So this comet brought life to earth. These bacteria multiplied quickly and mutated to form a lot of them. These used photosynthesis. First oxygen was introduced to Earth. But it was not that much. In an unknown date, appeared cyanobacteria. These produced large amounts of oxygen and kept pumping high amounts in the air. They are still around today. They create the atmosphere. In a billion years later, the oxygen level were 10% of today. Now in oceans dna became so advanced that other species appeared. Multi celled organisms first appeared in 1 bya. The ocean was plenty in oxygen compared to land. If you go back from a time machine you will have to use oxygen tanks on land. At first there were only small fish but then giant, humongous creatures appeared. Instead of photosynthesis, normal breathing was practiced for the first time.
Soon after Earth froze for the very first time creating the first ice age. Glaciers overwhelmed the heat of the sun freezing our planet. Entire oceans were ice! When earth revived, food chains became more complex and oxygen levels made it possible for animals to come on land around 800 mya( million years ago)! Animals were massive. Same time Earth’s second supercontinent forms called Rodinia. Around 524 mya many complex life forms were on earth. They were complicated. Many new species came including Trilobites and crocodiles. These were the first vertebrates or creatures with a spine. This was called the Cambrian period. There also were dinosaur-like creatures. Dragonflies. Another ice age came around. Glaciers froze the world. Only lasted for a short amount of time. A mass extinction happened at the end of Cambrian period killing all life on earth. The end result were one of the most famous and big creatures who ruled the world at that time.
Took a while for earth to revive but it did. The Mesozoic era. It is divided into Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous. During Triassic in 256 mya came lizards. So many lizards. Also birds too. Some bugs evolved to giant dinosaurs. There was 1 continent during T. called Pangea. Dinosaurs dominated the world. There were so many. Mammals were the lesser group. There were small and big dinos. Flying and swimming. The world was theirs for some time. During the Jurassic, there was North America, halfway split up America and South America, and only half of Asia, and some Antarctica. Dinosaurs evolved and there were new dinos. It was cool. During Cretaceous, volcanic gases killed a lot of species. Dinosaurs like the T-Rex and Triceratops lived at this time. Before earth could heal, a large meteor crashed into Mexico destroying all types of life. The polluted atmosphere took a million years to heal.
Soon began the Cenozoic era. Now birds and lizards were on the lesser side. Mammal species were populating the world. The giant crocodiles and massive dragonflies became smaller and smaller. The continents were almost in their modern shape. Many tropical forests appeared especially in South America. Deserts too. Asia quickly got filled with sand dunes. When continents became their modern size, came monkeys. They were the first hominids. The saber tooth tiger one of the most famous tiger came. They ate so many different animals and creatures. They later evolved into lions. Around 6 mya came the very first types of hominids. They had the word Australopithecus in their names. One unusual things was that these were bipedal.
Unlike apes and other monkeys, they could walk upright and have their arms free! As evolution continued, hominids got bigger and bigger brains and body size. Tools were invented. Homo Erectus invented fire and Homo Habilis invented sharp blades used as weapons. 230,000 years ago there were 2 hominids in competition. Homo sapiens sapiens ( modern humans) and Homo sapiens ( Neanderthals). Also came the famous and most recent ice age. Wooly mammoths evolved during this time. They were massive elephants. Sabretooths dominated the predator world. When the ice age ended, all modern species appeared. Neanderthals died out and our species migrated throughout the world. They formed civilizations, had big battles had many achievements in science.
Early 18th century we start burning gas for our use. The heat releases carbon dioxide which thins the ozone layer. Also humans are destroying plant life and killing animals. What will happen? A destroying Apocalypse. We are killing a great planet able to sustain life.
Earth is a great planet. Full of great stories and legacies of different species. Formed by remains of a star, also created a big chunk of ball (moon). Dinosaurs roamed the earth freely and proudly once. The great planet gave birth to a intelligence race of species who traveled to space. Now it is being destroyed. All crumbled up. The oxygen rich planet is dying.
